Weddings are a celebration where the bride is the star of the show: as such, having perfect hair, makeup, and dress are essential. This is particularly important to the bride’s hair, since hair is exactly the head’s crowning glory. Having perfect hair requires a strict regimen, so here are some pointers to help get the perfect tresses for your wedding day.
First, try and consult a hair specialist about your hair. Different hair types require different hair care regimens and products. You would be able to schedule the necessary trimming and hair care schedules. It is also important to consult your hair stylist to ensure that your hairstyle on the wedding day suits the veil and/or hair accessories that you will be wearing. The bridal gown can also affect your wedding day hairstyle.
If you prefer to do it yourself (and not consult hair professionals), then it would be best to know your hair type so that you can tailor-make your hair regimen. Know more about your hair (there are many helpful articles online) and try to stick to your hair care regimen to ensure that you have beautiful hair when your wedding day arrives.
It would be recommended that you begin your extensive hair care immediately. Even though you believe that you are taking good care of your hair, the moment you say “I will” to your fiancé’s proposal should prompt you to take better care of your hair: it would be one less thing to worry about as your wedding day approaches.
If you want to try a new haircut or hair color, most hair stylists would recommend doing it at least three months before the wedding. Drastic changes can make hair styling on the wedding day hard, and you might not like the new hair style or hair color. Three months before the wedding can help you get comfortable with the new one, or if not you have enough time to grow hair or change it while repairing possible hair damage.
Avoid washing your hair on the wedding day itself: this can strip your hair of natural oils that can be important in keeping hair shiny and healthy-looking. Wash your hair the day before the wedding so that your natural oils can coat your hair strands, making your hair more manageable and easier to style without using too much products on your hair (which can weigh it down and make it lose its natural luster!).
If you have a tried-and-tested hair care regimen and products, then it would be best to stick with it. Risking with new products or hair care regimen can wreak havoc on your hair. Follow a healthy diet, and avoid stress. They may not show immediate results, but they make a difference in the health of your health.
As stipulated by the Fair Labor Standards Act or FLSA, the maximum work time that employers can demand from their employees on a daily or weekly basis is eight hours (per day) and 40 hours (pre week). Anything beyond this number of hours may already be treated as overtime work.
These daily/weekly hours of work stipulated by the FLSA are to ensure that employees also have enough time for rest and with their families. Any increase in the daily/weekly number of working hours can only render employees more exhausted every day and, therefore, not very inclined to work the next day.
The Fair Labor Standards Act is a US federal law that was enacted in 1938. It defines, besides the legal daily or weekly number of working hours, the national minimum wage, the computation of overtime pay, record keeping (on employees’ time and pay records), and child labor (the law strictly prohibits the employment of minors in jobs that would harm their well-being; it also ensures protection over their educational opportunities).
The Portal-to-Portal Act is another law that was passed in 1947. It was actually a modification to the Fair Labor Standards Act and was intended to clarify issues regarding pre-work and post-work activities. Both the FLSA and Portal-to-Portal Act do not consider pre and post work activities as overtime work, unless these activities are in direct connection to one’s type of work and performed either in the workplace or anywhere, so long as it is upon the instructions of the company manager and for the benefit of the company (such as delivery of goods).
Overtime work, however, is not an opportunity of all employees. Only those who are non-exempt are considered eligible to render overtime work and, so, receive overtime pay. Workers who are exempt, or not eligible to render overtime (as well exempt from receiving the minimum wage, as their wages can definitely be higher) include administrative, executive, professional employees, outside sales employees, certain skilled computer professionals, employees employed in certain recreational or seasonal establishments, switchboard operators of small telephone companies, seamen in foreign vessels, those engaged in fishing operations, farm workers working in small farms, those employed as companions to the infirm or elderly and casual babysitters.
No law is intended to destabilize any business firm or deny any firm of profitability. Strictly observing the mandate of all employment laws will only result to satisfied employees and, thus, (probably) zero unfair labor practices or discrimination lawsuits. Therefore, any employer who intends to violate any stipulation from the laws that protect employees’ rights need to be prepared for the many lawsuits and claims he/she will have to face and settle.
Feeling lonely? Want to increase your chances of finding love? Read the tips below to get your love-life in gear:
- Go Out. On Friday nights after a work week sometimes the most appealing thing to do is go home and lay on your couch and eat popcorn while watching a good movie. However, going out with friends to a bar or dinner might be beneficial for your love life. You are increasing your chances of meeting someone new and getting quality time with your friends regardless.
- Go Online. Though online dating can get a bad rep, it is actually a great way to narrow your search for that special someone based on similar interests. This is a great tool for really busy people.
- Get Involved. Getting involved in your community is a great way to meet others who have an interest in helping others, which is a great quality in a person.
- Take a Class. Taking a class in something you’re interested in (i.e. painting, yoga, dancing, etc) is an easy way to meet someone who shares at least one similar interest.
- Join a Sports Team. Competing semi-competitively on a team is a wonderful way to not only make new friends who enjoy teamwork, but also to maybe meet that special someone.
Unhappily married couples with children are often hesitant to divorce due to the well-being of the kids. This hesitation may be caused by the social stigma associated with single mothers. However, recent data may show smooth sailing for divorced and single mothers. A study featured in the Journal of the Happiness Studies states that the happiness gap between single and married mothers is decreasing.
This may be because of the recent movement of women deciding to have children without a boyfriend or husband. The increase in women raising children by themselves has decreased the negative stigma associated with it, therefore increasing contentment.
Another contributing factor to this statistic, surprisingly, may be the decreasing happiness in married mothers. Married women with kids have reported feeling less content, according to an article by the Huffington Post.
Even though single women are reportedly happier, divorce is still always a difficult decision. However, it may be easier than living in an troubled or even abusive relationship. Holmes, Diggs & Eames, PLLC in Houston states on their website that sometimes, divorce is the only option to regaining a more certain future.
Although every marriage and divorce is different, there are many issues that come up repeatedly in divorce cases. Some leading factors of divorce include:
- Marrying young
- Differences in spending habits
- Long distance or even international relationships, which may lead to a complicated international divorce
- Religious differences
- Military careers
- Different opinions on child-rearing
If you are considering terminating your marriage, it may be wise to seek legal representation. Divorce law can be complicated, and hiring a lawyer ensures that details will be taken care of correctly and efficiently.

According to Hull & Zimmerman, P.C., approximately 4.7 million individuals suffer from dog bites in the United States each year – and worse still, some statistics show that over half of these victims are under 12 year old.
Much debate has ensued over whether or not breed-based legislation may be effective.
Those in favor tend to argue that some breeds – such as Pit-Bulls and Rottweilers – are statistically more likely to attack, so they should thus face heavier restrictions under the law. Those against breed-based restrictions argue that individual dogs shouldn’t be punished for something that may be a stereotype.
Coincidentally, both sides argue that statistics are on their side. There may be an explanation for the confusion: some studies suggest that the high fatality rates from dog bites of one specific breed can be explained by their popularity. For example, in the 1990s, there was a high population of Rottweilers, and a correspondingly high number of fatalities from Rottweiler attacks.
Furthermore, it’s difficult to even consider small dog breeds in the debate. Their bites are rarely powerful enough to be fatal, so incidents are rarely recorded, and there isn’t much data.
Regardless of the attacking dog’s breed, bites can result in serious injuries which can result in pricey medical bills or even permanent scarring. Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® law firm states on their website that if you or a loved one have been badly scared from a dog owner’s negligence, it may be wise to seek legal representation.
Here’s my post on Google Plus that sums up the Top 10 most dangerous dog breeds in the world, check it out.
Sometimes, proper home maintenance slips through the cracks when we juggle work, family, friends, and other obligations. This may be especially prominent when a couple goes through divorce; one party ends up with full responsibility of a house, rather than sharing that burden.
However, failing to keep your home safe, clean, and updated may cause serious damage. Plumbing and electric systems as well as the structure of the home should be maintained regularly to avoid expensive problems down the road, and to ensure the safety of your family and friends. Termites in staircases or a porch may result in collapse, which could cause broken bones or worse.
Not only could you or a loved one be hurt – any visitors that come over may be risking their safety if you have failed to keep your home properly managed. The Sampson Law Firm‘s website states that if someone is injured on your poorly maintained property, you may be sued.
Problems like stair and porch collapse are easily avoidable. Simply have your home checked for mold and termites on a regular basis, and make sure to fix any weather-related wear and tear. Issues with home maintenance are problematic because it may be difficult to ascertain whether it’s a simple annoyance, or a serious hazard. For example, some common wiring problems can result in a house fire, or even explosion. Therefore, home owners should regularly hire a licensed electrician to examine their electric system.
If you or a loved one has been harmed on someone else’s property, it may be wise to seek legal representation.
Last Sunday around 11:20 pm, a 36 year old man whose identity has not yet been released died in a rollover accident. According to a Houston Police Department official, he lost control of his black Chevrolet Cobalt on the Katy Freeway. The vehicle then rolled several times, and killed the driver. No one else was harmed in the accident.
Unfortunately, rollover accidents such as this aren’t uncommon. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are more than 280,000 incidents a year, which claim over 10,000 lives.
Although driving is always a risk, there are some factors that may increase your likelihood of experiencing a rollover accident. For example, some cars may be more prone than others to rolling. In a study by the NHTSA, SUVs were the most prone to rolling, followed by pick up trucks. Vans and other cars were the least likely to roll.
Not surprisingly, in the event of an accident, drivers and passengers who were wearing their seatbelt suffered lower fatality rates and fewer injuries.
According to the Willis Law Firm’s website, accidents are commonly caused by vehicles losing balance due to a quick overcorrection while a driver is steering.
Injuries can include fractures, contusions, concussions, brain and spinal injuries, lacerations, and other damages. The website of Joe Miller Law, LTD states that such injuries may cause emotional as well as physical trauma, which may lead to costly therapy as well as medical bills and render the victim unable to work.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a rollover accident due to someone else‘s negligent driving, it may be smart to seek legal representation.
Insurance claims can be tricky. When a disaster strikes and the customer or their property is harmed, disputes between an insurance company and their customer may arise.
Disputes are often caused by claims made for compensation by victims of crime, water, hail, wind or fire damage, a car accident. Car accidents can often be ambiguous because both parties involved often deny fault. In lane accidents especially, it may be difficult to determine if one person actually swerved into the other’s lane, didn’t use their blinker, or cut the other off. These disputes are often settled by witnesses. If you are involved in a car accident, it is vital to gather the phone number and information of any bystanders.
Another common cause of insurance disputes is water damage. Hurricane season is prime time for water and hail claims. Strong winds may seriously damage homes and other property by causing floods and subsequent water damage, leaks, roof damages, or other complications. Damages after Hurricane Katrina are estimated to exceed $100 billion. After disasters like these, when insurance companies are receiving thousands of claims, getting your insurance claim filed successfully can be an issue. Even small errors with paperwork can cause claims to be delayed indefinitely.
In fact, Maddox & Kendall, P.A., states on its website that many home and business owners have been flat-out denied insurance coverage they paid for. There are also cases of insurance workers failing to return calls in a timely manner or awarding far less money than is needed to fix the damage. If you believe you have been wrongfully denied the insurance you are entitled to, it may be smart to seek legal representation to gain the finances you need to rebuild after a disaster.
